NEW MOON IN AQUARIUS

A Moon for COMMUNITY HEALING

Aquarius is a sign that teaches us the skills of duality—of being part of a group while remaining a unique individual. It also teaches us the skill of vocalizing truth and justice while remaining detached and tactful. It values the hive of community yet needs to honour its introverted side. Aquarius is an innovative mindset, the nerd and the intellectual, alluringly original and unusual.

This New Moon is intense. What makes it feel heightened is a conjunction* with Pluto, the disruptor, the regenerator, and a force of nature. Pluto next to the Moon (representing our emotions) means we can feel a great deal of turmoil or be sensitive to other people’s turmoil around us. Pluto's unskillful approach creates destruction and manipulation, but it can also bring incredible opportunities for healing, especially in the sign of Aquarius, who sees things from all sides.

As of late, have you run into power struggles locally, collectively, or within a system?

Alongside the Moon and Pluto, forming a stellium*, are Mercury and Chariklo. Mercury can elevate thoughtful communication, seeding ideas to better support those whose liberation and rights are currently squashed by extreme political weather. This is a time for original conversations to flourish and ideas to be heard and witnessed; they must be said aloud and blown around the village square to spread and germinate. I have images here of the town crier. In fact, this stellium is making a trine* to Jupiter, who has the ability to amplify, boost, and expand in this aspect. Jupiter here creates a loudspeaker for this rich New Moon ecosystem.

In the mix, Chariklo (an asteroid) brings healing and support in times of turbulence. She could be understood as a discerning, candid grandmother figure rather than the all-or-nothing beauty of Khali, synonymous with Pluto. Chariklo is restorative; she bears witness and holds a giant loving palm open for transformation. In Aquarius, she is in her home sign, allowing the unraveling to take place because she knows there is a higher intelligence at work. Having her here in this transit creates tremendous support.

Altogether, this Moon offers a chance for greater community healing. A disruption gives us an amazing opportunity to talk and heal and be heard, but first, we must pause and nap and then, with a clear, rested mind, ask ourselves:

Where can I use my power humbly and effectively in this situation?

What can I offer to my community? My words, my privilege, my presence, my unique skills?

Where can groups benefit from us not merging and agreeing with one another but having multiple free thinkers sharing radical possibilities without the fear of making a mistake?

Where can I factor in more rest, which results in calmer and more intentional interactions?

You can read how this moon played out in reality for me in my Morning Pages Journal #2

………………………………………………………

* a conjunction is when two planets are next to each other. The effect is that the two planetary energies are amplified.

* a stellium is three or more planets close in a conjunction

*a trine is an aspect between two planets that makes a 120-degree angle.
